SUMMARY

     A collection of congratulations received from our authors and readers on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the journal opens the 20th Issue (2nd in 1999) of Alpha & Omega.
     The first section Biblical Studies contains "Easter Sermons" by Metropolitan ANTHONY of Sourozh, a paper by Fr Aleksij KNJAZEV "The Lord Is a Warrior" (Exod 15:3) , by Ivan EVSEEV "St Gennady's Bible of 1499", and the next portion of the abstract of Ch. CRANFIELD' s book "The Gospel according to St Mark" (chs. 9-11) by Yakov TESTELETS (to be continued).
     In the section Patristic Exegesis we publish "Tychonius' Rules and their Significance for the Modern Exegesis" by Metropolitan ANTHONY (Khrapovitskij). The section Patristics contains the last part of the "Three Orations on the Structure of Man created in the Image and Likeness of God" by St ANASTASIOS the Sinaite translated by Aleksej SIDOROV (started in Issues 18-19 of the journal).
     The section Church in History includes "The Eternal Life as the Supreme Good" by Patriarch SERGIJ of Moscow and Whole Russia; "Pastoral Care in a Monastery, or Starchestvo" by Bishop NIKOLAJ (Chufarovskij), "Landmarks in the Life of Metropolitan Anthony of Whole Russia" by Archimandrite MAKARIJ (Veretennikov), "Female Monasticism in Russia from the XVIIth to the XIXth centuries" by Archimandrite GEORGIJ (Tertyshnikov), "From the Life of Patriarch Sergij" by Vera EREMINA , and "Eriugena on Filioque" by Valerij PETROFF .
     The section Church in Eternity continues the "Lives of the Newly Canonized Saints" that we started to publish in Issues 15-16 and 18-19. The section Baptising All Nations contains a paper "St Ansgar, Equal to Apostles, the Enlightener of Scandinavia" by Vladimir SHOKHIN .
     In the section Apologetics we publish a paper by Alexander DVORKIN "Krishna Consciousness Society as a New Age Cult", "Promises of the Kingdom" by Dmitrij EVMENOV , and "The Image of Paradise in Christianity and Islam" by Jurij MAKSIMOV .
     In the section Church Culture we print a paper by Nun IGNATIJA (Petrovskaja) "St German the Patriarch of Constantinople as a Hymnographer" prepared for publication by Aleksej BEGLOV . The next section Prose contains "A Hymn for the Small Good" by Archbishop JOHN (Shakhovskoj) of San Francisco.
     Account of the celebration of the 500th anniversary of St Gennady's Bible, and "The 100th anniversary of Dmitrij Melekhov", an outstanding Russian Christian psychiatrist, by Aleksandr MEDVEDEV , papers "Ancient Eastern Churches: the Armenian Church" by Boris NELJUBOV , "Discussion on the Rights of Religious Minorities and the Privileges of the Church of England in the British Society of the 1820s" by Tatjana SOLOVJEVA , and ""Selected Passages from Correspondence with Friends" by Nikolaj Gogol' as an Itinerary toward the Holy Resurrection" by Vladislav TOMACHINSKIJ conclude the issue.
