SUMMARY

     Obituaries for Archimandrite GEORGIJ (Tertyshnikov) and Evgenij A. KARMANOV open the 18th issue (4th in 1998) of Alpha & Omega. In the section Biblical Studies we print "A Talk on Parables" by Metropolitan ANTHONY of Sourozh, a paper by Archimandrite GEORGIJ (Tertyshnikov) "St Theophanes the Recluse on the Holy Scripture", "Musical Instruments in the Bible" by Yelena KOL'ADA, and the next portion of the abstract of Ch. CRANFIELD' s book "The Gospel according to St Mark" (chs. 1-4) by Yakov TESTELETS and Kirill MIKHAJLOV (to be continued).
     The next section Patristic Exegesis contains a paper by Ol'ga NESTEROVA "The Typological Exegesis: a Dispute on the Method". In the section Patristics we print the last portion of Amphilochia by St PHOTIUS , Patriarch of Constantinople translated into Russian by Dmitrij AFINOGENOV , and "Three Orations on the Structure of Man created in the Image of God" by St ANASTASIOS the Sinaite translated by Aleksey SIDOROV ( to be continued).
     In the section Church in History we print "From the Spiritual Heritage of Archbishop VARFOLOMEJ (Remov)" selected, edited and provided with a foreword by Aleksey BEGLOV , a paper by Archimandrite MAKARIJ (Veretennikov) "Joseph the Metropolitan of Alma-Ata and Kazakhstan", the last portion of "Starets' ministry in Russia" by Nun IGNATIA (Petrovskaja) edited by Aleksej BEGLOV , and a paper by Konstantin CHEL'TSOV "A. N. Golitsyn as the Chief of the Ministry for Spiritual Affairs and People's Education".
     The next section Church in Eternity includes the following part of the "Lives of the Newly Canonized Saints" that we started to publish in Issues 15-16. The same section contains a paper by Archimandrite MAKARIJ (Veretennikov) "St Martyr Peter the Archbishop of Alexandria", by Marija NENAROKOVA "The Humble Monk and Teacher" on Venerable Bede, and "An Homily on the Occasion of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos Mary" by BEDE translated by Marija NENAROKOVA .
     In the next section Apologetics we print papers by Fr Mikhail DRONOV "Existentia and Experience in the Orthodox Thought on the Eve of the XXIth Century", by Julia USHAKOVA "What is the Time We live in?"
